The Equine Touch
The Equine Touch is a unique, gentle, non-invasive and non-diagnostic hands-on healing modality. I first learned of the Equine Touch in an article in the Natural Horse magazine, (Volume 3, Issue 3, 2001, www.naturalhorse.com). I subsequently had the opportunity to witness Pam Cantwell, Texas' first Certified Equine Touch practitioner, work her magic on numerous performance horses and was impressed with the astounding results. The equine athlete undergoes significant musculoskeletal changes during competition and conditioning. Horses that are experiencing pain will show compensatory changes in posture and gait, which in turn may cause stress in the muscles and joints. This can result in decreased performance, behavioral changes, sensitivity to touch, muscle spasms and muscle atrophy. The Equine Touch is a holistic approach to the many health and performance problems that equine athletes may incur; however, The Equine Touch is a complimentary healing modality and should not be a replacement for allopathic veterinary care.
